Michael J. Baker

SVP, Regional Director
Lee Hecht Harrison

Michael is an organization development professional and executive coach with over 20 years of business experience as a leader and manager. Currently an SVP with Lee Hecht Harrison and the Regional Director of Leadership Consulting for the Upper Midwest, Michael brings the unique perspective of both leading and doing the work. For the past 12 years he has lead large-scale projects in the areas of executive coaching and leadership development.

Michael approaches each project by first seeking to understand the strategic goals of the business, gaining an appreciation for the client’s strategy and key business drivers, and exploring their short- and long-term plans. He then collaborates with the client to explore the gaps and barriers, resulting in a recommended solution that will address the client’s business needs. Hallmarks of Michael’s approach are his flexibility and drive to ensure that the solution is a good fit and works for that client and their specific needs. He firmly believes that a project approach and methodology should work for the client, not the client having to work to adapt someone else’s approach and methodology. Once project work begins, Michael’s focus is to act as an advisor and advocate for both the team and the client—being an objective business partner to ensure everyone gets what they need to accomplish the project’s goals. Once a project begins the implementation phase, Michael will continue to monitor the project, providing debriefs of the implementation at key phases, reporting on measurable results, and identifying next steps and recommendations.
